BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT SEDBERGH BOOK FESTIVAL
My thanks to Heather, Project Manager, Sedbergh Book Festival, for starting my 83rd
birthday by assisting me to transport my Nanna Strawberry display items to Sedbergh
Public Library where I was going to launch Book 10
Nanna Strawberry Remembers Key Fishing...and heroic Grandad
sequel to book 9 Nanna Strawberry Remembers Crabbing... which ended with an
unexpected outcome to a family crabbing fun day at New Brighton boating lake.
My display looked very festive with birthday strawberry shaped balloon floating above everything,
and all the other gifted strawberry themed novelty items amongst the choice of ten books
completed to date from the total of twelve which are planned.Only two to go!
As Publisher, I thank Stramongate Press for their professional production of Book 10.
It was a welcome surprise to see great granddaughters Sophie and Olivia arrive early with
their parents. They thoroughly enjoyed looking through the library's book box. Sedbergh
Facebook page shows them with Nanna Strawberry. On this occasion, baby Lyla was having
a sleepy lie in. Visitors Erin and Esme arrived next with their Daddy and left bearing a copy of
Book 6, about The Young Queen in 1952. Two year old Jessica, in company with her parents,
enjoyed a book reading involving guess work about the titles of several well known Fairy Tales,
and Jessica successfully guessed each correctly! She hopes to own the full set of Nanna
Strawberry Stories one day. Jessica left with four for now, including the Crabbing and Key Fishing
stories, to go with Book 1,The Magical Naming of Nanna Strawberry, bought some time ago.
Jessica plans to buy book 4, Nanna Strawberry Shares Christmas With an Angel.... at DUO
on Sedbergh's special late night opening 5th December.
So Nanna Strawberry had a lovely time in Sedbergh Public Library, before meeting up with her
family to enjoy an 83rd birthday meal with them. Many had travelled from St Helens, Glazebury
and Great Sankey, other live nearby. Our thanks to Sue, Matt and Amy at DUO for their
relaxing venue and great food. The fascinating talk byYorkshire Shepherdess, Amanda Owen,
at People's Hall 7.30pm was a splendid conclusion for Nanna Strawberry author Audrey
Wilson on completing her 83rd circuit of the sun. It was 4th during her first visit to Sedbergh.
